You can shop with us just like your regular supermarket, the only difference is that you can select the amounts of some items per 100g or 50ml. This will be stated in the title of the product. This enables you to just buy what you need, not set packet sizes.

Once you’ve selected all your items, go to the checkout and select how you’d like to receive your items. You can select click and collect, local home delivery or courier. It will allow you to pick a date and time to suit you.

When you have finished your planet friendly shopping on the website, head to the checkout. There it will enable you to select click and collect. You can pick the day and time slot which suits you best.

Once you’ve ordered, we will get everything ready and email you when it’s ready for you to collect. You don’t have to come for the time you selected, as long as it is within our opening hours. If it goes past this time and you haven’t arrived we will contact you to arrange another day.

To check if you’re in our local delivery area, just pop your postcode into the checker at the top of the website homepage. If you’re not, don’t worry we can send it by courier service.

When you have finished your planet friendly shopping on the website, head to the checkout. There you can select the date and time slot which suits you best.

Once you’ve ordered, we will get everything ready and bring it to you during that slot. If we have any issues or questions about your order we will contact you on the phone number or email you provided.

If you may not be home just leave us a note on the comments section at the checkout and we will leave it in a safe place for you.

Don’t worry at all we can still deliver to you! If you can just let us know in the comments box on the website when you place your order. This way we can pop it in a box for you for contactless delivery to maintain the safety of our teamies.

Just bring along your bottles and/or containers, they don’t need to be completely empty and we will fill them for you! We weigh the container, then fill it with the amount of product you would like and then weigh it again. So you only pay for the amount we added.

Yes please do! All that we ask is that they are clean.

However, you absolutely don’t have to bring containers, infact about 90% of our customers don’t! Instead we can pop your goods into paper bags or our clear home compostable bags.

Despite the relaxing of rules, we still have our Covid safety measures in place.

Our team members will continue to wear masks if they wish to and test regularly.

We have hand sanitiser for staff and customers to use in store.

Please feel free to wear your mask if it makes you feel comfortable. However, if you prefer not to wear a mask we ask that you keep socially distanced from team members where possible. We’d also request that you respect other shoppers in the store who may still want to wear their masks.

We will keep windows and doors open to maintain good ventilation.

Our Poppleton shop opening times are currently;

10am-12pm Tuesday

10am-2.30pm Thursday, Friday & Saturday

10am-4pm Sunday.

We are closed on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Our main shop is based at Poppleton Business Park in York. Our full address is The Little Green Weigh, Unit 2, Rose Avenue, York, YO26 6RR. We are just off the roundabout, third exit and you’ll see us on the left hand side. There is usually a sign outside, but if you can’t find us please give us a call and we can direct you.

However, we also have a small concession in Taylors of Acomb located at 39a York Road, Acomb, York, YO24 4LW. Please see their website or social media pages for current opening times.

There’s lots of free parking right outside the shop. There are also disabled spaces available if you need them

Yes you can! There is a safe cycle path from the main roundabout on the ring road to the shop. We also have bike racks outside the shop where you can park up safely.

Yes you can, it’s a lovely walk down from Poppleton Village, over the bridge from Clifton or up the backroute from Acomb to Poppleton past Manor School. Any bus to Poppleton will stop nearby just off the large roundabout. If you can’t find us please call us and we can direct you.

Click and Collect is available during our opening times. When ordering online you can book the slot that’s best for you. We will email you when it’s ready to collect and you can come any time from then

Once you’ve finished your shopping online, your delivery options will show at the checkout. You can select the day and timeslot available which is best for you.

You can use our fabulous postcode checker on the homepage of the website. Just input your full post code (ensure there are gaps e.g. YO26 6RR not YO266RR). Alternatively you’ll be asked for your postcode at the checkout too. If we can’t deliver to you locally in York we can send most items by post.

Locally (In York) we use our own lovely part crowdfunded van. We are researching into ways to deliver by bicycle as requested by many customers but we want to ensure this is affordable.

Don’t worry, you can leave us a message in the comments at the checkout and tell us a safe place. Alternatively, we will call you on the number provided. We will always try and leave your order in a safe and dry place. However, if this isn’t possible and we can’t get in touch with you we will take your order back to the shop.

Our deliveries are organised in the greenest route possible. This is done just before we leave the shop so if you need an estimated time we can let you know. When you book your delivery it will be within a time slot e.g. 12-3pm, 3-6pm. If you need your order for a set time please contact us and we will see what we can do.

For postal orders we typically use Royal Mail for standard deliveries and Parcel Force for special delivery so we can support our local Post Office.

We use all sorts of packaging! This is because we reuse packaging sent from our suppliers. It’s rare we use anything new and we would encourage you to reuse the packaging If you can.

For our local deliveries we pack your items into a reusable delivery crates so there is no waste. You’re welcome to take the crate into the house to empty it, we will wait for you.

If you order a small number of items they may be delivered in a bag instead.

Our fruit and veg is bought to order, this helps us to eliminate food waste and ensure your food is as fresh as possible. So for now fruit and veg is only available to order online. You can order up until 9pm for next day delivery.

Our fresh bread and pastries are baked to order, this helps us to eliminate food waste and ensure your food is as fresh as possible. The website will automatically show you at the checkout when they are available for collection or delivery.

The majority of our items are vegan friendly. Items will state in the product description if they are vegan friendly. Alternatively please do ask in store and our teamies will be more than happy to advise you.

All of our food items are to the best of our knowledge plastic free when we order them. Occasionally a jar may have a plastic seal on it or a box has a secret plastic bag inside, which really annoys us and we send feedback to our suppliers. However, we work really hard to bring you plastic free alternatives (seriously that’s our fun!) and if we can’t find a good alternative we won’t stock it.

Our cleaning and body care products do come in recycled plastic or glass containers. However, we have our own circular system where customers can return the bottles to us for refilling to earn loyalty points to help reduce waste.

For loose food we use paper bags or clear home compostable bags.

For liquid refills we have either recycled plastic bottles or glass bottles which you can return to us to earn reward points.

If you’re struggling to find something on our website you can use the search function or get in touch. It may be that we don’t currently stock it or we’ve put it in a silly place on the website. Just message us and we will help you.

We’d hate for you to not love something you’d bought or that there is an issue with it. Please contact us at hello@thelittlegreenweigh.com with your order number and let us know what the issue is and we will do our best to resolve it.

If you have changed your mind about an item, it hasn’t been used or opened then you can return it for a full refund. The exception to this is the fresh fruit and veg and baked goods and any postal/delivery costs.

If you have changed your mind about something you’ve ordered please contact us within 14 days of receiving the items. Before a refund can be processed we’ll ask for you to return the items to us. Unfortunately we can’t refund the cost of postage to you or to return the item(s). Please contact us on hello@thelittlegreenweigh.com for details.

You can return any bottle which you have purchased from us. Unfortunately we can’t take any other bottles at this time so we ask that you reuse them or recycle them at home instead.

You must be a Green Member to receive rewarded points for returning bottles to us. Bottles need to have been purchased from us for rewards to be given. It’s simple to become a member, just visit www.thelittlegreenweigh.com/pages/green-membership

We reuse them! So we first give them a really good clean, let them dry out and then refill them for the next customer to use. This helps us to create a circular system in store and reduce waste on behalf of our customers. If bottles are returned to us in an unusable condition they will be repurposed or recycled.

We don’t collect any other containers at the time, unfortunately we just don’t have the storage space in our tiny shop. However, we encourage you to reuse the containers you have, share them with friends and find new purpose for them before recycling them.

Sooo many things! Basically we give you points for shopping planet friendly, leaving product reviews, telling your friends about us, your birthday and so much more!

Then when you have enough points you can trade them for discounts, rewards and freebies!

You also start with enough points for 2x£5 vouchers to use in store or online.

It’s £15 per year and you received 2x£5 vouchers when you sign up. Your membership will auto renew after 12months unless you cancel it.

You can either log into your account on the website and click cancel membership. Or alternatively contact us at hello@thelittlegreenweigh.com and we can process this for you.

Unfortunately our current system means we can’t switch your membership back on. Previously when this has happened our customer has signed up again and we have partly refunded the fee or added additional points to their account depending on the length of time left on their previous membership. If this happens please contact us and we will help to resolve the situation.

We have A LOT of suppliers and every week we add more and more. We celebrate them and their efforts to reduce waste. Our main suppliers include Suma and Wigan Wholefoods, however we stock over 110 small business products too!

Food safety is our biggest priority for our customers. Having allergies ourselves we understand how stressful it can be when food shopping. This is why we implement very strict food safety practices to reduce the risk of contamination as much as possible.

If you are shopping in store please tell a member of staff what your allergies are so we can advise you on which products may be safe for you. Or if you’re shopping online please tell us about your allergy in the comment box at the checkout. This is really important to help us reduce the risk of contamination.

Please note that although we have very strict processes for handling allergens there is still risk of cross contamination. By shopping with us you agree to taking on this risk

We are legally required to display certain allergens in product ingredient descriptions and on product labels which we package. But our policy goes further than this to help protect our customers as outlined below.

However, it must be said that although we take as many precautions as possible there is some risk of cross contamination. Although products such as nuts and gluten are stored in separate containers, they are kept within the same room.

• Legally required allergens will all be in bold on our ingredients lists on our website and on products which we package for you.
• The legally required allergens are; Celery, cereals containing gluten (e.g. wheat, rye, barley and oats), crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, nuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, soya, sulphur dioxide.
• We understand that some customers may have allergies which are not included on this list. If this is you, please contact us prior to making your purchases if you are unsure of anything.
• All allergen items such as nuts, gluten etc will have their own dedicated scoops and storage tubs to reduce the risk of contamination.
• Allergen items will be stored in a separate area of our facilities where possible.
• If you do have any allergies please get in touch with us before placing an order and we can give you all the information we have so you can make an informed decision about your purchase. You are also welcome to come to the shop to see how we do things.
• You will be asked at checkout if anyone in your household has allergies. If 'yes', we will pack your order separately to others and in a sealed box to limit the possibility of cross contamination as much as possible.

We follow strict guidelines when it comes to labelling product ingredients. The steps we take are outlined below to reassure you of our practices:

• All products on the website have the full list of ingredients provided to us by the manufacturer so you can make an informed decision at point of purchase.
• Any loose items which we package for you will have a full ingredients and allergens list on a sticker.
• If you have any concerns about one of our products please get in touch immediately. We want to ensure our customers remain safe.

All of our prepacked products are labelled by our suppliers. However, our loose foods are labelled by us with our rather fabulous weighing scales.

We include all ingredients and legally listed allergens. We rely on the information given to us by our suppliers.

We try to cater to our vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free and nut free customers.

However, like ourselves we know there are so many different allergies you can suffer with. We ask that customers with allergies contact us before purchase, visit us in store, or if ordering online tell us about your allergies in the comments box at the checkout. If we are unable to cater to your needs or need to ask further questions we will contact you.

However, we must stress that despite our strict allergy handing practices there is still potential risk of cross-contamination and that by shopping with us you accept that risk.

We use a mix of packaging for your orders. For food we use paper bags or home compostable bags. For liquids we use glass or recycled plastic bottles. All of our bottles can be returned to us as part of our circular system.

You can either bring it into store or give it back to us on your next delivery.

Derived from natural plant fibres, cellophane is biodegradable and can be composted too. The film will break down within a natural environment and will help enrich the soil in the process.

You can pop them into the shop or give them to us on your next delivery. Please know that we can only take our Brown Bag Crisp packets back. They will not accept other brands to their recycling scheme.

This year we have chosen to raise money to purchase trees to plant locally and therefore can’t afford to support any other projects.
